Wilkesboro is the closest and most convenient place to stay. There are many hotels available. During festivals (Merlefest in the spring and the Apple Festival in October) it will be almost impossible to get a room in Wilkesboro. We would advise making reservations if you know exactly when you’ll be here during those times. Many people have had good luck with the "Red Carpet Inn" - clean rooms at good prices. It's important to get a good bed if you're not in your prime shape, as training will be the most strenuous time in your flying career in the summer AC, and a good bed can make the difference between a fun learning weekend and a painful stressful time. For all you campers, there are several options, from resort camping to state parks to mom and pop operations. We also allow free camping for students on our motor field. Water available.
